D1 Athlete Takes 2nd in Women's Rugby National Championships

D1's 2010 NFL Combine Showing Strong

In addition to the well documented success of Broncos QB Tim Tebow in the preseason, many other D1 athletes in the 2010 D1 Combine Prep program have done well. Giants DT Linval Joseph recorded his first sack against the Ravens and Rams TE Michael Hoomanawanui caught four passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns against the Patriots this weekend. After a big preseason, Bengals WR Jordan Shipley looks like he could start in the slot when the season begins and Raiders OL Jared Veldheer started the third preseason game at center. Good job, guys!

D1 Chattanooga Athlete Wins Two Track and Field Titles

Congrats to D1 Chattanooga athlete Jeff Brown for his two recently earned national championship titles at the 2010 USA Masters Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Sacremento, California. Jeff won the Throws Pentathlon (which consists of the hammer, shot put, javelin, discus, and 25 lb throw) and he was the 56 lb Throw champion. Also, he placed second in the Ultra Throws Pentathlon (which consists of throwing the 25 lb, 56 lb, 98 lb, 200 lb and 300 lb weights).

New Philadelphia Flyer Jody Shelley is taking his offseason training to new heights. He and other D1 athletes traveled to the Hoover Dam (the one in Columbus, OH) to some off-site training. Good job Jody!

D1's Scott Stallings Making it Big in Golf

Things are getting much busier for golfer Scott Stallings, who is from near Knoxville, and begins the Knoxville News Sentinel Open today. His schedule is a little busier now and his time at D1 is a little harder to secure. The former Oak Ridge High School and Tennessee Tech golfer is 40th on the Nationwide Tour's money list. Congrats to Catholic High School offensive lineman Kyler Kerbyson on committing to play football at the University of Tennessee. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive tackle has trained at D1 Knoxville. Way to go, Kyler.

Rookie Conner Used D1 Greenville to Prepare for Colts

Former Clemson linebacker Kavell Conner is hoping to make it big with the Indianpolis Colts this season. He was a seventh round pick by the Colts this year and trained at D1 Greenville with former Clemson tight end Durrell Barry up until he left for training camp. Good luck Kavell!

Jody Shelley Shares Stories from the Ice

D1 co-owner and Philadelphia Flyer, Jody Shelley, was the keynote speaker for the 2010 Columbus Medical Association (CMA) Sports Medicine Reception held on D1 Columbus’ turf. The event welcomed local athletic trainers, physicians, and physical therapist for an awards banquet. Jody shared some highlights from his excursions on the ice and injury stories.

D1 Columbus to Host Haynesworth Shuttle Challenge


Next Friday, the athletes at D1 Columbus will see if they could pass the Washington Redskins fitness test that was initially failed a couple times by defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Good luck to the D1 Columbus athletes and we hope you get a tryout in DC. D1 Columbus athlete, Joey Galloway, is actually on the Redskins roster although he didn't have to pass the fitness challenge.

D1 Huntsville Hosts Daddy-Daughter Workout

There was quite an age gap in a recent workout at D1 Huntsville. The facility co-owned by Philip Rivers hosted its first Daddy-Daughter workout. The event led by D1 coach Crystal Harris was a great success! Great job D1 Huntsville on getting families active.

R.A. Dickey Continues to Dominate for Mets

D1’s R.A. Dickey has pitched 17 consecutive scoreless innings and is looking to continue his streak tonight versus the division-leading Atlanta Braves. On the season, R.A. is 7-4 with a 2.32 ERA and has a 1.29 ERA in four starts since the All-Star break. During the offseason, R.A. lives in Nashville and trains hard at D1. He also happens to be the brother-in-law to D1 CEO Will Bartholomew. Congrats R.A.

110 D1 Athletes Begin Training Camp

It is that time again where NFL athletes leave D1 and put their training to use. NFL Training Camp has begun and over 110 athletes who have trained at D1 are in camp. Guys like Earl Bennett in Birmingham, David Jones in Greenville, Derrick Mason in Nashville, Peyton Manning in Chattanooga, Kenneth Darby in Huntsville and Mike Vrabel in Columbus have been training the last few weeks before camp.
