Rutgers Safety Joe Lefeged Starts D1 NFL Combine Prep
Three athletes have begun Combine Training at D1 in Nashville. Joe Lefeged joins Cedric Thornton and Brian Lainhart at D1 preparing for the big stage. Joe is one of the top rated safeties for the 2011 NFL Draft. Good luck Joe!

Ashley Johnston from The Biggest Loser Giving Back at D1
Ashley Johnston, who has lost the most weight for a female in The Biggest Loser history, is now helping teach others how to jumpstart their life! In addition to being the BL Body spokeswoman, Ashley is now personal training athletes at D1 Knoxville. Ashley will provide both nutritional & exercise advice as well as positive mental encouragement. MLS Player Wes Knight Working Hard at D1 Greenville

Heather Mitts Starts Christmas Right with Workout
USA Soccer player Heather Mitts is always getting better. She and her teammates recently qualified for the Women's World Cup in Germany this summer. Even though she has a few months to get ready, she is still working hard. Heather got in to D1 Cincinnati for a workout this morning. Happy she is a D1 co-owner!

Mike Durant to do Live Video Chat with STACK on Wednesday
On Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m. EST, STACK Media will host a live video chat session on the Gatorade Performance Center with Mike Durant, D1 Columbus Facility Coordinator.
Via a live video stream with the Gatorade Performance Center, Mike will be available to answer questions on strength and conditioning, speed, agility, preparation and nutrition. Be sure to get your questions in early as he was unable to answer all the questions due to the time allotment last chat.
Mike oversees day-to-day operations at D1's Columbus facility and is responsible for implementing its training programs. He also works directly with NFL players A.J. Hawk, Mike Vrabel and Bobby Carpenter, as well as NHL star Jody Shelley. Mike attended Ohio State University, where he was captain of the baseball team. He played in the MLB with the Minnesota Twins and later founded Peak Athletic Development.

Paul O'Neill and Dr. Kremchek to Speak at D1/Beacon Baseball Symposium
Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and D1 Cincinnati will host a Baseball Symposium on Saturday, January 8 from 1:00 - 4:30 pm. The free event is for Coaches and Athletic Trainers. Featured speakers are Paul O'Neill and Dr. Timothy Kremchek, plus other injury prevention and sport training experts from Beacon. Jared Sullinger Named Big Ten Player of the Week
D1 Columbus athlete Jared Sullinger is really making a name for himself. He was named the Big Ten Player of the Week and the conference's Freshman of the Week. The Player of the Week honor was Sullinger's second this season, while he was awarded Freshman of the Week for the fourth time. Sullinger scored 40 points in Ohio States' win over IUPUI on Thursday, marking the first time since 1995 that a Big Ten player has scored 40 or more points in a game and the first time since 1944 that a Big Ten freshman has accomplished the feat. Looks like his offseason work at D1 has payed off.

The Shamrocks, who boasted an impressive 40-8 over the past two seasons, came to D1 during the summer to begin their workouts. D1 Chattanooga is on Hand to See Super Bowl Champions Crowned
The Scenic City Youth Football League recently wrapped up their season with the league Super Bowl winners being crowned at Finley Stadium. D1 Chattanooga was on site during this football filled Saturday with some fun drills for the athletes to participate in when they weren't on the field playing for a championship. Congratulations to all the athletes in the Scenic City Youth Football League on a great season and remember, it's never t0o early to start training for next season!

Iron Bowl Bet Goes South for D1 Birmingham Co-Owner
Demeco Ryans, former Alabama player and a co-owner of D1 Birmingham, lost an Iron Bowl bet this past weekend to former Auburn player and Houston Texans RB, Ben Tate. Auburn came back from a 24-0 deficit in the first half to defeat Alabama 28-27. It was both the largest comeback in the history of Auburn football and the largest comeback ever allowed in Alabama football history. Tough loss for both Bama and Ryans!
