Three athletes have begun Combine Training at D1 in Nashville. Joe Lefeged joins Cedric Thornton and Brian Lainhart at D1 preparing for the big stage. Joe is one of the top rated safeties for the 2011 NFL Draft. Good luck Joe!

Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and D1 Cincinnati will host a Baseball Symposium on Saturday, January 8 from 1:00 - 4:30 pm. The free event is for Coaches and Athletic Trainers. Featured speakers are Paul O'Neill and Dr. Timothy Kremchek, plus other injury prevention and sport training experts from Beacon. D1 Columbus athlete Jared Sullinger is really making a name for himself. He was named the Big Ten Player of the Week and the conference's Freshman of the Week. The Player of the Week honor was Sullinger's second this season, while he was awarded Freshman of the Week for the fourth time. Sullinger scored 40 points in Ohio States' win over IUPUI on Thursday, marking the first time since 1995 that a Big Ten player has scored 40 or more points in a game and the first time since 1944 that a Big Ten freshman has accomplished the feat. Looks like his offseason work at D1 has payed off.
Herschel Walker, co-owner of the new D1 Savannah, told South Magazine, “I’ve always wanted to get back to Georgia and do something that’s really special. D1 is a very prestigious facility and I believe in physical fitness and I believe in working out.” CLICK HERE to read the full article.

The Dublin Hoffman Shamrocks varsity basketball team spent their off season training hard at D1 Columbus. The Shamrocks, who boasted an impressive 40-8 over the past two seasons, came to D1 during the summer to begin their workouts. We look forward to another great season for the Shamrocks as D1 Columbus became an official sponsor of the program!
The Scenic City Youth Football League recently wrapped up their season with the league Super Bowl winners being crowned at Finley Stadium. D1 Chattanooga was on site during this football filled Saturday with some fun drills for the athletes to participate in when they weren't on the field playing for a championship. Congratulations to all the athletes in the Scenic City Youth Football League on a great season and remember, it's never t0o early to start training for next season!

Demeco Ryans, former Alabama player and a co-owner of D1 Birmingham, lost an Iron Bowl bet this past weekend to former Auburn player and Houston Texans RB, Ben Tate. Auburn came back from a 24-0 deficit in the first half to defeat Alabama 28-27. It was both the largest comeback in the history of Auburn football and the largest comeback ever allowed in Alabama football history. Tough loss for both Bama and Ryans!
For the first time in a D1 facility, nets have been added for lacrosse. They are getting good use up there and we fully expect to see some All-Americans. Check out this photo from a recent Lacrosse camp at D1 Columbus.
