D1 Sports Training announces the addition of Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, Bengals receiver Jordan Shipley and Colts long snapper Justin Snow as co-owners to the new D1 Sports Training facility in Abilene. On June 4th, 2012, D1 will open its first facility in Texas.
The D1 facility, which is located in the Munton Sports Complex, features a 15,000+ square-foot training space and an additional 10,000 square feet for D1 Sports Medicine partner Texas Sport & Spine. D1 Abilene will have an indoor turf field and first-class weight room combined with a state-of-the-art sports medicine and therapy clinic geared toward athletes and athletic type injuries run by Texas Sport & Spine.
Witten and Shipley both have past connections to D1. Following his standout career at the University of Texas, Shipley trained at D1 Nashville four months prior to the 2010 NFL Draft. Witten has trained at D1 and played at the University of Tennessee with D1 CEO Will Bartholomew. Snow is an Abilene native and lives there in the offseason. In addition to Witten, Shipley and Snow, the Abilene D1 Training facility will be co-owned by a group of local investors and sports enthusiasts led by Dr. Dan Munton of Texas Sport & Spine.
