D1's R.A. Dickey Retires 27 Straight for Mets Triple-A

After a leadoff single, D1's R.A. Dickey did not allow another hit all night. The knuckleball helped Dickey throw a one-hitter for the Buffalo Bisons on Thursday night. CLICK HERE to read more. Congrats R.A.

DeMeco Ryans Represents D1 at Camp

D1 Birmingham co-owner DeMeco Ryans sported a D1 hat recently at the annual First and Ten Youth Football Camp in Houston. Fellow Texans star Andre Johnson and former teammate Dunta Robinson were there to assist with the camp. DeMeco will also be holding a FREE camp in Birmingham on Saturday, June 26, 2010 (9:00 am - 1:00 pm) at Bessemer City High School Stadium. CLICK HERE to register.

Manor and Anderson Head North with Vikings

D1 Little Rock's Brison Manor and Gary Anderson, Jr. are headed to north to work out with the Minnesota Vikings. Manor, an offensive tackle, and Anderson, a DB, will work to make the Vikings after training at D1 Little Rock with Adam Settle. Good luck guys!

D1 Nashville hosts Ultimate Goals Ministries 3v3 Soccer Tournament

Three Trevecca men's soccer players participated, Philip Walker, Javier Delgado, and Darragh Bugter, in the Ulitimate Goals Ministries 3v3 tournament on March 28 at the D1 facility in Brentwood, Tenn. The tournament was held to raise money for Nashville United in Haiti, and there were a total of 70 players and 12 teams that participated. The funds are going directly to Haiti through the YMCA. Matt Smith, Trevecca assistant men's soccer coach, runs Ulitimate Goal Ministires and joined with YMCA of Middle Tennessee and FASHA to put on the event that was hosted by D1 Sports Training at their facility in Cool Springs.

D1 Knoxville partnered with TOC to host Sports Medicine Seminar

D1 Knoxville partnered with TOC (Tennessee Orthopedic Clinic) to host our 8th annual Sports Medicine Seminar on Saturday, April 24th. During the seminar, Physicians from TOC discussed the latest techniques for treating injuries and enhancing performance along with covering a variety of topics such as sports injuries and other athletic concerns. This year’s event had more than 200 area coaches and teachers in attendance!

Big Day 2 of NFL Draft for D1 Athletes

After D1's Tim Tebow went to the Broncos in Round 1, D1's Linval Joseph from ECU started off Day 2 with the 46th selection by the New York Giants. Jared Veldheer from Hillsdale was taken with the 69th pick by the Oakland Raiders. Jordan Shipley was taken by the Cincinnati Bengals with pick number 84 and Jimmy Graham was selected at the end of the third round by the New Orleans Saints. Also, Taylor Price who was selected in the third round by the New England Patriots trained a little at D1 Columbus prior to the NFL Draft.

D1 Knoxville Staff and TOC assist with the 47th Volunteer Track Classic

Adam Kerley and Bruce Nicoara of D1 Knoxville along with staff from Tennessee Orthopedic Clinics (TOC) volunteered their time and athletic training skills to provide coverage for THE 47th VOLUNTEER TRACK CLASSIC on Friday-Saturday, April 16-17, 2010 at Tom Black Track at The University of Tennessee. The event featured over 2000 participants from the high school level and many of the nation’s top track athletes.

D1 Chattanooga's Randall Freeman wins MVP award at National Underclassmen Football Combine

D1 Chattanooga's Randall Freeman participated in the National Underclassmen Football Combine for juniors on April 3 at Glencliff High School in Nashville. He was awarded the Overall MVP award at the end of the combine, and scouts were very impressed with his one-on-one covering ability and lateral speed. These were some of the numbers he put up at the combine:
40 yd Dash - 4.69
Shuttle - 4.18
Broad Jump - 10'7"
Vertical - 37.5'
Bench Press - 185lbs 13 times

Columbus Marauders Select D1 Sports as 2010 Training Facility

The Columbus Marauders announced today their selection of D1 Sports as the team's training facility for the 2010 season. D1 Sports will host not only the Marauders' indoor practices, but also their preseason team conditioning workouts. D1 Sports, owned in part by NFL stars AJ Hawk, Bobby Carpenter, and Mike Vrabel, is a full-service training facility which specializes in creating custom workout regimens to enhance the speed, agility, mobility and endurance of athletes, using a combination of speed training, aerobics and nutrition.

D1 Chattanooga Client, Mandi McCarty, loses over 100 lbs!

Mandi McCarty came to D1 Chattanooga last year looking to make a change in her life, and as of last tuesday Mandi had lost over 100 lbs! She is a great example of someone who was driven and determined to become healthier, and her incredible weight loss story serves as inspiration to many of those wanting to improve their health! Congratulations Mandi on the great accomplishment and for being an inspiration to so many others!

D1 Plays Part in AFL's New Season

Former af2 powerhouse, the Tennessee Valley Vipers, have now become the Alabama Vipers and are competing against big-market teams like Chicago and Dallas in the AFL. D1 has played a huge role in getting the team ready for the big-time! Players like Dan Alexander and Aaron McConnell have trained at D1 Nashville. Durrell Barry, Kavell Conner, and Robert Livingston training at D1 Greenville

Durrell Barry is a former Clemson University football player that recently came to D1 to work with strength and speed coach, Steve Marsh, in preparation of his upcoming pro day. Durrell Barry is a native of North Charleston, SC and decided to become a Clemson Tiger where he would continue his football career. Joining the Clemson Football team as a Tight End in 2005, Barry made his career highlight at the 2006 Music City Bowl game against Kentucky when he caught a 32 yard pass, one of just two tight ends to catch a touchdown pass in a bowl game since 1985. Wrapping up his last season as a Tiger, Barry hopes to find himself playing in the NFL this upcoming season. At Clemson's Pro Day. Barry had 25 reps of 225lb and ran a 4.58 40 yd dash. He was pleased with his performance at his pro day and now waits for what is to come for his future as an NFL tight end.

Kavell Conner finished his time as a Clemson Tiger outside linebacker with 313 tackles for his career. Connor had a major part in Clemson finishing in the top 25 in total defense and scoring defense for each season. Conner is a native of Richmond Virginia and came to Clemson University in 2005 as the #3 rusher in region history. With a fast approaching career right in front of him, Conner finished each season as a top performer. Through his dedication and hard work he made it a priority to never miss a game and played 53 games in a row tying the Clemson record. Conner was a 2010 NFL Combine participant where he ran a 4.59 40 yard dash had a 33.5’ vertical and 25 reps of 225lb. He continues to train with coach Steve Marsh while he waits for the NFL draft.

Robert Livingston is a former William and Mary football player currently training with speed and strength coach, Steve Marsh. He recently had a successful performance at his pro day and is training for his upcoming CFL workout on April 17th.

D1 Little Rock's Darreal Mems and Tommy Jackson perform well at HS Combine

D1 Little Rock's Darreal Mems and Tommy Jackson participated in the inaugural National Underclassmen Combine (NUC) for Arkansas at Searcy High School last Saturday afternoon. Both of them are juniors at J.A. Fair High School, and train in the D1 Prep group with coach Ben. Darreal shared the WR MVP award with two other participants, and was described as having big time talent with good hands and quick feet. Tommy Jackson, 6'2.5" 326 lb. OL, was the OL MVP and Leadership Award award winner for the day. He used his tremendous size to overpower others in the 1 on 1 drills and tossed up 185 lbs. 19 times. Several players from D1's 2010 Combine class performed well at Pro Days

After several weeks of training and preparing for D1’s Combine Class, several players had good showings at their Pro Days. According to NFL analysts, Linval Joseph, DT, is rising up draft boards with his impressive work in position drills at East Carolina’s Pro Day. Tim Tebow, QB, impressed scouts with his footwork and improved throwing motion at Florida’s Pro Day, and Jonathon Crompton, QB, didn’t disappoint in his 45 minute scripted QB workout at Tennessee’s Pro Day. After catching many scouts’ attention at this year’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Jared Veldheer, OL, continued to impress in position drills at Hillsdale College’s Pro Day. An unlikely story came out of Arkansas State’s Pro Day after Reggie Arnold, RB, caught scouts’ attention after turning in an impressive individual workout. D1 coaches Terrence Savage and Steve Marsh recently assisted with Brian Bratton’s future stars football camp. The camp was held at a local Greenville YMCA and included help from coaches that played football at the collegiate or professional level. Brian was a standout at Furman and has trained for many years at D1. He is currently in the CFL. Great job guys on making the camp a success! (Coach Steve is pictured on the right)
