Marcus Monk Making Big Mark

2008 D1 Combine athlete Marcus Monk is proving that his truly that - an athlete. Monk was drafted in the seventh round by the Chicago Bears after a stellar football career with the Arkansas Razorbacks. After struggling in his short NFL career, Monk elected to try basketball at Arkansas while still recovering from an earlier knee surgery. In his first big basketball game vs. No. 4 Oklahoma, Monk responded with 12 points and six rebounds as the young Razorbacks pulled out a major shocker in a 96-88 upset. "Marcus Monk, my goodness," Arkansas head coach John Pelphrey said in his postgame news conference. "That was one of the best performances I've ever seen. I know he didn't have 20 or 25 points, I don't know how many rebounds he had, but he got in there and competed. That jersey means something to him."
